The variety of courses offered by our training department is vast and sessions are often adapted to reflect new developments
Our Training Department was established in October 2008 and has proved to be very successful, ensuring that every member of staff with us learns the necessary skills and techniques which will aid them in providing the best care possible throughout their career. Training sessions are run by Sue Kemp, our Training Manager, who has been with the company for several years, and cover a wide range of topics relevant to our work. We recognise that on occasions we need to draw upon the expertise of external providers for very specific training needs. In these instances, we have sent our employees on courses to develop their knowledge and to cascade information throughout the company. Profiles of these staff members can be viewed separately.
As a result of having our own in-house training department, all our staff are equipped with the most up-to-date information. We also encourage our employees to obtain other qualifications through external agencies. Many members of our staff work towards an NVQ in Care, others are helped to improve their communication skills by taking an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) course and many staff members have recently taken up the opportunity of studying for an NVQ in IT.
The variety of courses taught at Cavendish Care is vast and sessions are often adapted to reflect new developments and to suit individuals. Below are some of the courses provided:
We have recently introduced an intensive two week induction for all our newer employees to ensure they have a solid grounding in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism. The induction is based on Skills for Care's Common Induction Standards but is tailored to suit the needs of our own clients and tenants and to our aims and objectives. All participants are encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences whether they have been working in care for one month or twenty years! We believe we are one of the only companies to offer such a thorough induction course and the benefits to both our employees and those we support has been evident.
